Some residents celebrated World Snow Day last Sunday by trying out fat biking at the Omineca Ski Club. According to the club, there has been a 鈥渟erious conversation鈥� among club members about whether to introduce fat bikes to their groomed trails. The fat bike demo was a way for club members to see how the bikes maneuver on the trails and interact with skiers so that they can make informed decisions about fat bikes being on the trails in the winter. The Lakes District Secondary School (LDSS) junior boys and girls basketball teams played against Fraser Lake Elementary Secondary School (FLESS) last week in 亚洲天堂 Lake. The LDSS junior boys won 58-21 while the FLESS junior girls won 51-30. (Flavio Nienow photos)

The littlest 亚洲天堂 Lake Bruins hosted a tournament at the Tom Forsyth Memorial Arena over the weekend, playing against initiation teams from Fraser Lake, Vanderhoof and Fort St. James. The young players received plenty of encouragement and cheers from the crowd. No scores were kept during the tournament.

Cole Bender and Nicole Hamp stand out in Whistler

Teams from Prince George, Fraser Lake and Vanderhoof travelled to 亚洲天堂 Lake for an atom hockey tournament over the weekend. The event was hosted by the 亚洲天堂 Lake girls atom/peewee team at the Tom Forsyth Memorial Arena. Sarah Green, head manager of the 亚洲天堂 Lake Minor Hockey Association, said players really enjoyed themselves and had a fantastic weekend of hockey. No results were recorded during the tournament.

Lakes District Secondary School students spent a day on Hudson Bay Mountain earlier this month training for their time trials the following week. Coaches Mr. and Mrs. Dub茅 have been running dryland training in preparation for the tryouts and practices on the hill. The team will be travelling to Quesnel for zones at the end of February. Lakes District Secondary School (LDSS) Grade 8 boys and girls basketball teams played against the Fort St. James Secondary School Falcons last Thursday in 亚洲天堂 Lake. The LDSS girls won over Ft St. James while the Fort St. James boys won over LDSS.
