Festival celebrates fresh talent

More than 30 performers were in the spotlight at the gala performance of the Lakes District Festival of the Performing Arts, which took place on March 17. The event also celebrated the winners of scholarships for 2019.

Derina Harvey Band roving across northern BC

The Derina Harvey Band鈥檚 performances of Celtic and maritime music garnered a standing ovation following two encores on Thursday night. The Edmonton-based Celtic rock band is currently touring northern B.C., and played for an audience of some 200 music fans at Lakes District Secondary School. The event was organized by the Lakes District Arts Council (LDAC) and marked the end of the council鈥檚 2018-19 season.

On Feb. 23, children and youth aged eight to 26 years in and from government care had an opportunity to enjoy a day of creative fun, while providing their input around what child welfare service delivery should look like. Carrier Sekani Family Services is hostied the Out-Spoken In-Care Youth forum which took place at Margaret Patrick Hall in 亚洲天堂 Lake.

It was in support of Pink Shirt Day which raises awareness about bullying.
