How the floods ruined the beautiful wildlife in the area

Our guiding area covered hundreds of square miles of wetlands and meadows, rivers and lakes. My Dad was noted for his migratory bird hunting, in which we were all involved. The territory was huge and hundreds of thousands of geese and ducks nested and migrated through our area, every year. Dad’s houseboat was used for this for over 40 years. We lost everything in 1952, when the flooding began…and his houseboat was crushed by the ice and the rising flood waters that first winter.

Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund Society (NKDF) under $5,000 Grant Program supported two youth projects in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake recently. The first two projects of the new NKDF funding cycle have been approved through the under $5,000 program. The ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake and District Chamber of Commerce and the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Youth Soccer Association will both receive grants.
