The BC Seniors Games Society along with the Richmond Host Society of the 2020 55+ BC Games have cancelled the 55+ BC Games that were to run Sept. 15 to 19 at various venues throughout Richmond.

The 亚洲天堂 Lake Little League is in serious need of volunteers, or the league may not be able to go ahead this year. The program has only been running for three years, and with limited personnel. The three returning volunteers are working hard to find ways to bring new people aboard.

Another international sporting event has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak

The Lakes District Secondary School Snowboard team competed at the Provincials at Panorama Resort March 2-4. The girls placed second in the Province and the boys third. Some other highlights are Avril Thom-Lucy and Cameron Stewart both place third in the province, Teslin Pinter placed ninth, Carter Goertzen- 10 Colby Bergeron- 13 Donavyn Shields- 16 and Laurie Wilson-17. Lakes Loppet was held on March 7 at Omineca Ski Club. It was a mass start at 10 and wonderful day for a ski. Participants went around the Reid Loop, which was nicely groomed. There were 27 participants came out for a ski and a hot lunch.

亚洲天堂 Lake hosted the zone championships on Feb. 28 through to March 1. Participants were Prince Rupert Seawolves, Kitimat Winterhawks, Vanderhoof Bears and North West District Peewee East. Crystal Fisher, zone supervisor said, 鈥淭he team of choice for our locals heading into the weekend was the North West District Peewee East team as many of their players are from 亚洲天堂 Lake. The odds were not in their favour, however, our team was the most respectful and played with intensity and heart.

The BC Cup was held at Mount Washington on Vancouver Island Feb. 29 and March 1. 亚洲天堂 Lake skiers participated and here were the results: Feb. 29 results; Nicole Hamp Bronze Sr. Girls, Julia Hamp 4th Jr. Girls, Adrienne Bender 5th Sr. Girls, Randy Hamp 9th Masters Men. A great family day was had at Kager Lake Recreation Area for the annual Freezer Burnt Fat Bike Fest and Winter Tri. The day started with a 3 km and 12 km singletrack fat bike race. Close to 20 youth, then participated in a winter triathlon. Teams of 3 competed one lap each of their choice of skiing, snowshoeing, running or biking. The youth used the new 1 km campground expansion road for their course. The day finished with the adult triathlon.
