Thirty-one talented creators will compete this summer in the Lakes District Museum Society’s Search for ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake’s Centennial Artist, a once-a-century art competition celebrating this community’s first hundred years.

The snowmobile, also known as a sled or a snow machine, has come a long way since 1917. Initially designed as a mode of transportation for winter travel (an important tool especially in the North), the early models were simple, with a basic frame and a single-cylinder engine. Today’s snowmobiles are designed with aerodynamics and precision engineering in mind, utilizing lightweight materials and advanced technology to maximize performance and minimize environmental impact.

A ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake-based hunter is facing serious charges related to violation of hunting laws. Brent Mackereth, a 30-year-old resident of ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake, is facing serious charges related to hunting. He has been accused on four counts, including hunting without consideration, discharging a firearm in a no-shooting area, unlawful possession of a dead animal, and entering enclosed land. These charges were filed against him in October 2021.

It may be the start of spring but the roads in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake west of town were icy on April 12, causing a truck to lose control and flip into the ditch. There was substantial damage to the vehicle. The ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake and District Chamber of Commerce is getting ready for the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Centennial 2023 Trade Show. The event for vendors is sold out now and the rest of the preparations on well on their way. The trade show happens May 12 and 13 at the Tom Forsyth Arena in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake.
