Arts Council presents season 13 of live performances

The Lakes District Fall Fair Association and the Lakes District Arts Council presented Vancouver Island-based children鈥檚 entertainers The Kerplunks on Sept. 7 and 8. The Kerplunks performed at Francois Lake School and at William Konkin Elementary School (with the students of Decker Lake Elementary School as guests). The children鈥檚 group also performed two free shows for kids and families in the Lakes District Secondary School.

Twenty six young people between the ages of six and 13 attended three days of arts and crafts workshops last week, taught by three local artists: Amy Dash, Lorna Hannett and Jill Elliott, and by Lakes District Secondary School student Emma Moore. The workshops were sponsored by the Lakes District Arts Council, and hosted by Linda Uchacz at Yarn and Sew On.

Bev Hughes Highland Dancers, Julia and Nicole Hamp, Laurie Wilson and Aurora Finch have just recently returned from Scotland. Withthem, they brought home a total of 49 medals which they won at the four competitions they enter throughout Scotland. The Lakes District Fall Fair recently brought in the RCMP Musical ride for the community of 亚洲天堂 Lake. There were two shows - the second show was completely sold out. Over 1500 local residents came out to watch the show. The RCMP Musical ride consists of 32 riders and their horse - all of which are actual RCMP officers. The musical ride performs in up to 50 communities across Canada between the months of May and October.
