Condolences are pouring in for the family of a Sooke boy who died earlier this month.

An online campaign to support the family – parents Amanda and John as well as younger sister Amelia – is garnering words and funds of support naming the boy as 13-year-old Isaiah.

“Our community has lost an amazing young man,” the campaign page reads.

“He was a beautiful, bright, kind-hearted soul with an adventurous spirit and full of potential. Early on, he loved tinkering with computers and spent many hours visiting our local Gadget tree. He became quite the computer whiz, so much that they hired him. His friends could always count on him to help with their technology issues.”

While a cause of death is not revealed, the BC Corners Service confirmed it is investigating the death of a young person from Sooke. As the investigation is ongoing, the service will not provide further details. Sooke Mirror has requested the coroner’s report when the investigation is complete. The current average timeline for a report – impacted by complexity and other ongoing invitations – is 16 months. Reports are only released once considered by the chief coroner, who determines if it is in the public interest.

The public interest in the days after the tragic death continues to show in the form of kind words and tallying more than $8,000 within three days to help the family with expenses while they “navigate through this difficult time.”

Updates to the GoFundMe include words under the name of his heartbroken mother, Amanda Cordon, who admired the dedication and determination of her “incredibly brilliant” son.

“I miss him so much every minute,” the update reads. “Isaiah’s little sister Amelia is heartbroken to see her big brother go this way. He always told Amelia and myself one day he would take care of us.”
