Learning traditional medicine in 亚洲天堂 Lake

On June 10, (C)Beverly Michell, Lake Babine member accompanied by Nancy Ripley (L) and Chelsea Hiebert 鈥 all guests to, shared traditional wisdom about medicinal native plants with all classes at Decker Lake Elementary School. Students sampled some of their medicine which was brewed with rose hips, juniper berries, soap berries, devil鈥檚 club, and spruce gum 鈥 to name a few of the ingredients. ALS Walk in 亚洲天堂 Lake

亚洲天堂 Lake residents rallied in the rain on June 18 to do an ALS Walk in support of local resident Barb Wilson. Move to Cure ALS walks happen across B.C. in June and although 亚洲天堂 Lake isn鈥檛 an official site local resident Ronda Payne organized the walk and a fundraiser for her friend Barb. The beautiful 鈥楶urple Dreams鈥 quilt, made by Jenny Pirie was raffled off and the winner of the quilt was Jaycille Neville. The event raised $3780.

亚洲天堂 Lake Native Development Corporation (BLNDC) organizers of National Indigenous Peoples Day started at 10 a.m. today 鈥 June 21 along Highway 16. General Manager Chantal Tom said, 鈥淚t is good to see National Indigenous Peoples Day celebration back after two years.鈥 More festivities happen all day at Spirit Square and the whole community is welcome to attend for a free lunch and many other activities.
