Lakeside Multiplex in 亚洲天堂 Lake to receive solar power upgrades

Unused power generated can be sold back to BC Hydro grid for credits against future bills

The Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake is preparing to outfit the Lakeside Multiplex with a solar energy system, with construction set to complete by fall 2025.

The Lakeside Multiplex will soon have a solar energy system.

The upgrade project involves the design and installation of a net-metering solar energy system that will tie into the facility鈥檚 existing BC Hydro service. Net-metering allows buildings to generate their own electricity through solar panels and send any unused power back into the provincial power grid. In return, the building receives energy credits from the utility provider, which can be used to offset future electricity consumption.

The system will include rooftop solar panels designed to supply up to 150,000 kilowatts of total power annually, supported by a 100 kW-rated inverter. All necessary components鈥攊ncluding wiring, hardware, tools, permits, and engineering鈥攁re part of the installation package.

According to the Village's official request for construction bids, the purpose of the project is to improve long-term energy efficiency at the Lakeside Multiplex and reduce operational costs associated with powering the facility. The multiplex serves as a hub for community events, fitness, and recreational programming throughout the year.

The installation is part of a growing trend toward renewable energy investment in small and mid-sized communities. Solar projects like this are seen as a way to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, hedge against future energy price increases, and promote environmental stewardship at the local level.

Construction is scheduled to reach substantial completion by September 30, 2025, and will be overseen by municipal staff to ensure compliance with local bylaws and purchasing policies.
