亚洲天堂 Lake Search and Rescue (BLSAR) is one of the oldest continually running SAR groups in British Columbia and has been active since the mid 1960s. The group is currently approved for basic ground search and rescue, flat water boat operations, tracking, drone, helicopter hover exit and ATV/UTV operations; with hopes to expand on those capabilities eventually as the team grows.
 
亚洲天堂 Lake Search and Rescue has an lower call volume when compared to many of the rest of the teams across the province. Over the past few years many of our calls have been to assist with the local wildfire evacuation alert/order notice delivery and mutual aid with the neighbouring groups.
 
The group has also been working on developing a home base and training ground on Brown Road over the last few years which is nearing the initial completion stage. The goal is to have this group of new members in training (MIT) be the inaugural group to have all of their training completed at the location.
 
The GSAR course is laid out by the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) and taught by the local SAR volunteers to the MITs. It is designed to teach new members things such as navigation, different search techniques, radio communication and wilderness survival to name some of the topics covered in the course.
 
If you are curious how SAR works in B.C. or are interested in joining the JIBC offers a free online Introductory to search and rescue in B.C. course (EMRG-1703) which details how SAR is deployed and functions in the province. This course is also a prerequisite to taking the GSAR course with your local SAR group.
