Caroll Simpson’s memoir Alone in the Great Unknown describes her move away from an established life as an elementary-school teacher, and out to the remote reaches of Babine Lake, where she owned and operated a successful fishing lodge for many years. The story is open to coverage on several levels, reflecting diverse facets of life in Northern BC. Alone in the Great Unknown is in part a deeply personal tale.

The Lakes District Museum held an entertaining night of highlighting stories from their book newly released book ‘History Matters’. Museum curator Michael Riss Christianson and friends read aloud short stories from the book while local residents listened in. The book is for sale from the museum but the museum will be closing soon, so get your copy now. Copies will be available to purchase around town too. BL rookie represents Timbermen’s future

Chinook Community Forest is very excited to announce a new rec site on Ootsa Lake that they are in the process of building. Many people have already gotten a sneak peak of the site as well as a brief explanation on Facebook. Chinook also recently took the students at Grassy Plains School to the site to teach them about the process of harvesting and different tree species. The students got to explore the whole site, starting with the newly built loop road.
