亚洲天堂 Lake and District Seniors Society played carpet bowling at the Decker Lake Hall on Oct. 18. Every Wednesday, the seniors society organizes carpet bowling right after lunch. St. Luke鈥檚 art show was held on Oct. 14 at St. Luke鈥檚 Church beside the shore of Francois Lake. This church is well over 100 years old and was built by local community members. 鈥淭his art show was just part of that group for the service of St. Luke鈥檚 church and the St. Luke鈥檚 Heritage Society (non-profit organization),鈥� said Donna Fowler. She also said the church had been completely restored by their non-profit society. There was coffee and deserts for the guests who came to this art show.

Drum Run Adventure Tour came to 亚洲天堂 Lake on Oct. 17 at Lakes District Secondary School. Lyle Povah percussionist and runner was joined by eight local residents for a drum session. Povah inspired them with a historical and cultural aspect of drums and how drums are important to First Nations. He has been working with the B.C. Children鈥檚 Hospital with a mission to raise funds for kids to have the best experience when they are hospitalized.

B.C. United Leader Kevin Falcon and Mayor of Houston Shane Brienen are touring together and stopped at 亚洲天堂 Lake on Oct. 19. Brienen is B.C. United鈥檚 candidate for the Nechako Lakes provincial election. They had a closed door meeting at the Omineca Ski Club. Falcon said that this is not a campaign tour and they were yet a year ahead till election time. They visited 亚洲天堂 Lake as part of their smaller community visitations to talk and listen to folks.

亚洲天堂 Lake woke up to a whole lot of messages written on the sidewalks from the Beacon Theatre to FYI Doctors. The unknown authors of the messages displayed love and acceptance and showed support to the LGBTQ. Then on Sunday a peaceful demonstration of approximately 10 people showed up downtown at the RV parking across from RX Drug mart with more messages. The group said they wanted to display positive and informative messages.
