The Pines nursing home in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake received a $3,000 funding from the Bulkley Valley Credit Union (BVCU) to acquire a snoezelen cart for its residents. Karen Dueck, a volunteer for the Pines Family Council collected the cheque on behalf of the nursing home from BVCU’s Branch Manager Nathan Way. A snoezelen cart, is a mobile version of a snoezelen room. It is basically a mobile sensory station that has various items like light tubes, vibrating pillows, textured items, gentle sounds, etc.

The ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake and District Chamber of Commerce organized the first Community Market for 2020 on July 3. Despite the dampening rains, the community’s spirits were high and many people ventured out to the CNC parking lot to enjoy this year’s community market.

The ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake and District Chamber of Commerce started a second location for summer at the Radley Beach Park on July 1. This beach shack, unlike the tourist centre at the chamber, will be open seven days a week and would not only have brochures and information but would also sell ice-cream. The Lakes District Secondary School (LDSS) class of 2020 had a unique graduation this year. Lakes District ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà covered the graduation and made special grad issue. The grand march that was organized by the parents at the Radley Beach Park, was divided in two groups of which Lakes District ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà featured group two in an earlier issue. The ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake and District Chamber of Commerce held a Canada Day Business Decorating Contest for the local businesses. The contest attracted 13 local businesses who participated in decorating their window displays to get in the spirit of Canada Day. Wild Roots Flowers and Gifts took the first place with a $250 cash prize, Alternative Grounds Coffee and Tea House stood second with a $100 cash prize, while IDA - Rx Drug Mart stood in the third place with a $75 cash prize.
