The C.E. Imeson general store was a fixture in 亚洲天堂 Lake

Around 1921, Clarence E. Imeson, Marion Prentiss, and Marion鈥檚 stepbrother (Frank Ramsden) established C.E. Imeson &Co., General Merchants. The business, located on the north side of Highway 16 in 亚洲天堂 Lake near the present site of the Royal Bank of Canada鈥檚 parking lot, carried everything from candy to men鈥檚 formal wear. The three men even had a tailor visit regularly so that clients could have their suits custom fitted.

Margaret 鈥淕randma鈥 Watson was born in Nova Scotia in 1887, but later moved to Alberta. She married in 1907 at the age of 20, and honeymooned in Edmonton when the town was still a small settlement. There weren鈥檛 any streetcars in the city at the time, she recalled years later, and much of what is now Edmonton鈥檚 downtown core was still heavily treed.

Classic car group does toy drive in style

Several cars and motorcycles from the Route 16 Classic car group joined forces on a toy drive from Vanderhoof to Topley, with each driver bringing a toy to donate. The proceeds went towards the Topley toy run. The goal was to fill the back of one of the Topley Volunteer Fire Department fire trucks. According to Topley Volunteer Fire Chief Byron Sketchley, they came close to reaching that goal.

Final numbers from book sale

The 亚洲天堂 Lake Public Library annual book sale came to a close on Sept. 18. In the four and a half days of the sale, 245 visitors attended and approximately 1,434 books were sold, earning $ 1,796.95 for the library. According to Library Director Monika Willner, it鈥檚 only half of the usual amount of sales from the previous years, but considering the circumstances the library is happy with the outcome. All the money raised will go towards programming costs and project supplies for the library.

The Tour de North bike ride, which is part of Cops for Cancer, passed through 亚洲天堂 Lake on the third day day of their seven day journey from Prince George to Prince Rupert. The team arrived in 亚洲天堂 Lake on the evening of Sept. 18, and had several activities in the community on the morning of Sept. 19.
