This letter is in response to Lynn Synotte鈥檚 letter titled 鈥淒oors are open and we are listening,鈥 dated April 5, 2017. I am a past resident of 亚洲天堂 Lake and lived here in the 1990s and often return to visit family. I took a part-time math course at CNC in the early 1990s while I worked at 亚洲天堂 Lake Specialty Woods.
The local campus was instrumental in my education journey and they were there for my convenience. I strongly encourage those who wish to pursue more education to utilize this resource. There are many opportunities that meet the needs of a rural population at your disposal right here in 亚洲天堂 Lake.
I now work in post-secondary education, and I have witnessed how students can obtain credentials by various means such as distance education where one-course at a time can be taken. A student can prepare for full-time education at a campus like 亚洲天堂 Lake before transferring to another college or university. Or like myself, I took one preparation course and years later, I have obtained an undergraduate degree, a teaching certificate, and more recently, I completed a master鈥檚 of education degree from SFU in Burnaby. The 亚洲天堂 Lake campus was definitely a part of my journey and greatly assisted with my post-secondary education.
Sincerely,
Gary George,
Burnaby, B.C
