I am writing you today to discuss major changes needed at the 亚洲天堂 Lake Band to create a more accountable and transparent office.
My name is Ryan Tibbetts, a member of the elders society here on the 亚洲天堂 Lake reserve, myself along with community members want to know what is happening with our band finances as we are not privy to any accountability or transparency with where exactly the bands money is going.
I know the 亚洲天堂 Lake Band has received money from Pacific Trails Pipeline but do not know what is being done with the money. Since the new chief has been elected I am unaware of any council meetings nor community meeting to get direction from the people. In other band offices it is a conflict of interest to have the chief and council running everyday operations especially I don鈥檛 have information on accountability on how the monies are being distributed with no community involvement.
With writing this I want to be known the people I have spoken to want to be included in making decisions on the band鈥檚 behalf because it takes a community as a collective to move forward, the youth here that live on reserve need to be included in building a strong future.
Suing the membership only creates tension and we need to figure out a solution for everyone but that includes the proper measures for transparency and accountability to the 亚洲天堂 Lake Band members.
