Upgrades for Lakes District schools this year

The Ministry of Education recently announced that a total of $110 million in annual facilities grants will be provided to school districts this year.

Ernie Mannering, School District 91's director of instruction said to Lakes District 亚洲天堂 that all School District 91 schools benefit from the annual grant.

Mannering said,  "The money helps us refresh flooring in hallways, classrooms and gyms.鈥

鈥淲here possible we lower operating costs by making our buildings more energy efficient and this work is scheduled for all sites over a multi year period," he added.

The total annual facility grant allocation for School District 91 during 2011 and 2012 is $1,361,131.

Mannering said this is a set annual amount for the district.

Decker Lake Elementary School will receive room and storage upgrades, Lakes District Secondary School will receive upgrades to the sports field, as well as improvements to flooring and lighting sensor work

Grassy Plains Elementary Junior School and Francois Lake Elementary School will both benefit from roofing upgrades. Francois Lake Elementary School will also receive upgrades to doors.

William Konkin Elementary is set to receive improvements to the school's offices over the summer.

The $110 million for annual facilities grants is in addition to school district operating grants, which according to a Ministry of Education press release will increase by $58 million in 2011-12 to a new record high of $4.721 billion.
