Southside teen found deceased; forensic autopsy ordered
North District Major Crime Unit, in assistance with the 亚洲天堂 Lake RCMP is currently investigating the suspicious death of a 17 year old teenage girl.
On Jan. 26, 2011 at approximately 3:45 p.m. 亚洲天堂 Lake RCMP responded to a call of an unconscious 17 year old female at a home on Uncha Mountain Road on the Southside.
According to Sgt. Rob Vermeulen, from the RCMP media relations department, upon their arrival police determined that the female was deceased.
"The scene was cordoned off and the forensic identification section was called in," he said.
Sgt. Vermeulen added that a thorough examination of the scene is still underway.
The BC Coroner Service was also called and has attended the site.
"A forensic autopsy has been ordered to assist in determining the exact cause of the death," he said.
Investigators are now working to determine the circumstances around the girl's death and if those circumstance are criminal in nature.
"The name of the deceased is not being released at this time and victim services are assisting family and friends," he added.
An autopsy was conducted on Monday and police are now waiting for the results. The investigation remains active an on going and police are encouraging anyone with information to call the 亚洲天堂 Lake RCMP or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
