According to Michael McMillan, Northern Health's chief operating officer, a new website that is currently being created will better target physicians and medical staff for recruitment across the North.

The new Northern Health recruiting website, which will be active in the early part of April will also give municipalities the chance to sell themselves in the hopes of attracting physicians via community profiles on the site.

"It [the new website] will be much better and much more targeted," McMillan said to Lakes District 亚洲天堂.

"It will be a significant improvement in that we will get the right information to the right physicians," he said.

McMillan went on to say that Northern Health are still working towards recruiting physicians for the Lakes District Hospital in response to the physician shortage and he added that they have also taken out a half page advertisement in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, specifically aiming at recruiting physicians for 亚洲天堂 Lake.

This journal targets all Canadian physicians.

"We are working with the University of Northern British Columbia so that we are more connected," he said.

McMillan went on to say that Northern Health is specifically targeting university graduates who are working on their two year residency program.

He also confirmed that there are currently a number of locums working at the Lakes District Hospital, however an exact number is hard to determine.

"Locums work like substitute teachers do, he said adding, Locums do not give us all of their time."

According to McMillan some doctors are full time locums traveling to and from communities where they are needed, while others are community doctors, that work as locum doctors on a part time basis.

"Locums come and go from the Lakes District Hospital all the time," he said.

"It is hard to get locums on short notice, because they often have all their time for the year planned out, there is not a pool of locums just waiting to be recruited," he said adding that in total there is about three or four locum doctors servicing the Lakes District Hospital at different times.

Currently Northern Health have two permanent positions for family practice physicians advertised to start immediately in 亚洲天堂 Lake on their current website.

As for the agreement with local doctors for Northern Health to take over the reigns of the 亚洲天堂 Lake Medical Clinic, McMillan said that the final agreement has not yet been signed off, but he expects things will move forward quickly.
