鈥淒uring the course of the investigation any information gained by the investigators cannot be released and this has led to a number of rumours being circulated within the community," Sgt. Vermeulen said.
"We request that the public exercise patience and refrain from spreading unsubstantiated information,鈥 he added.
鈥淥ur investigators need to spend their time following up on legitimate leads and information. Rumours and speculation have a way of growing and spreading. Obviously everything has to be followed up on, and these rumours take away time that could be better spent investigating solid information,鈥 Sgt. Vermeulen added.
No arrests have been made and no charges have been laid to date.
Investigators continue to work diligently on this priority file and the investigation is moving forward.
"Information gathered at the scene is being processed as we continue to work on all aspects of this file," he said.
