亚洲天堂 Lake is set to receive a $460,000 share in a provincial strategic community investment fund grant totaling $1.619,155 for the Nechako Lakes region.
The grant funding comes as part of a $63.8 million funding infusion to help communities across B.C. with their spending priorities.
As part of the strategic community investment fund, the province is also returning $30 million in traffic fine revenues and a reimbursement for carbon taxes paid in 2010 to eligible municipalities.
Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake chief administrative officer Sheryl Worthing said the funding is provided to the village on an annual basis and is used for general operating purposes.
"The Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake is receiving approximately $460,000 from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development through the small community protection grant program. We are receiving $265,000 now and will receive the remainder later in the year," Worthing said.
She went on to say that the village does not receive any traffic fine revenues as part of the funding.
The amount of funding the village receives is based on assessment levels and population.
"Last year we received $468,000," she added.
Worthing went on to say, "The grant is used for general operating purposes to support general services and is given to local governments with smaller tax bases. The funding is used the same way each year."
The strategic community investment fund was established by the province to help stimulate local economies, create jobs and encourage overall growth.
MLA John Rustad said, "The core services that communities provide are an important component of our quality of life. These extra funds will continue to help our local governments cope with the increasing demands within our communities."
