Over corrected
Jan. 10, 2011 at 10:15 a.m. ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake RCMP began an investigation of a two vehicle accident on Eagle Road. A 2004 Lakes District Maintenance truck had been struck by an oncoming 1991 Honda sedan.
Investigation indicates that the driver of the Honda over corrected prior to meeting the oncoming truck and crossed into the oncoming traffic lane.
The injuries to the driver and the two passengers were minor however the Honda was extensively damaged.
Rear ended
Jan. 14, 2011 at 1:45 p.m. ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake RCMP were called to a motor vehicle accident on Hwy. 16 near the Auger Lake Rd. junction.
A west bound van had been rear ended by a semi truck as the van slowed down due to the white out conditions as an east bound transport truck went by.
Damages were minor and there were no major injuries.
Road and weather conditions along with drivers not reducing speeds to meet these conditions and traveling too close together appears to be the cause of this accident.
Bear spray assault
Jan. 15, at 12:30 a.m. RCMP attended to a loud party call at an apartment at 375 Eighth Ave. The birthday, drinking party had gotten out of hand and some fighting ensured between the party goers.
One male had been sprayed with bear spray. Several people were arrested and police are actively investigating the assault with the bear spray.
Dumbest criminal
Jan. 16, at 1:50 a.m. RCMP responded to a call of a suspicious truck stuck in a driveway near Tchesinkut Rd.
The investigation reveals that a male had attended the home were the vehicle was stuck. The alleged driver advised the homeowner that his truck was stuck in the ditch.
The home owners went to assist and discovered that it was their own truck stuck. The male suspect then fled on foot.
Police located the suspect male driver in another vehicle that was stuck about 200 meters from the first stuck truck.
The male was arrested and he investigation is ongoing.
Be prepared
The recent snow fall and cold weather have caused a number of serous motor vehicle accidents over the past weeks. ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake RCMP are asking the motoring public to slow down and take into consideration the weather when planning a trip. Ensure you have good winter tires, an emergency kit and of course let another party know your travel plans should you not show up as expected.
