Don Olson and Cindy Hooper are the 2025 Smithers Mr. & Mrs. Golf Tournament champions. Don with wife Janie are no strangers to the winners circle having won the tourney several times including 2023.
But a last-minute injury kept Janie out of the tournament resulting in the paring of Don and Cindy,
The Smithers pair dominated the field of 59 couples in this year's Mr. & Mrs. to wrest the title back from Terrace's Ann and Philip Maher. The Mahers settled for the overall net title this year.
The Smithers couples tournament is a perennial favourite in the North routinely drawing competitors from Prince George to Prince Rupert. This year saw the field come from even further afield with golfers turning up from as far away as the Okanagan, Vancouver Island and even Saskatchewan.
The two-day competition is played in an alternating shot format, with both members of the couples teeing off, choosing a drive then trading off strokes until the ball is in the hole.
The field is divided into four flights with three Mr. & Mrs. categories based on combined handicap and one His & Hers flight for pairs who are not couples.
