The Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake is beginning a formal assessment of its 25-year-old skate park to plan for its future use and potential upgrades.
Built in 1999 as a Rotary Club project, the facility was constructed by local contractors and has held up well, but is now showing signs of aging, according to Lewis Jones, the Village鈥檚 director of recreation services.
鈥淭he typical lifespan for skate parks built in this era and climate is 25鈥30 years,鈥 Jones said.
To help guide decisions, the Village has brought in a skate park consultant to conduct a condition assessment and offer recommendations for both short-term repairs and longer-term redevelopment. The review will also help determine the appropriate scale for a potential rebuild and provide budget estimates for future planning.
Public engagement is a key part of the process. Although an initial open house drew only about 10 attendees, with few youth participating, Jones said additional outreach is underway.
鈥淲e are following up with further engagement with Lakes District Secondary School students and will be doing pop-up engagement sessions at the skate park this month,鈥 he said.
An online survey is also available to collect more community feedback.
While there is no defined timeline yet for improvements, Jones said the Village wants to be proactive.
鈥淲e want to make sure our parks infrastructure continues to meet the needs of the public,鈥 he said.
