Sunday afternoon, May 18th: The Met Live in HD presents 鈥楲e Nozze di Figaro鈥 at The Beacon Theatre
The fifth Met Opera: Live in HD broadcast of the 24/25 season, co-presented by the Lakes District Arts Council and The Beacon Theatre, is Mozart鈥檚 comic masterpiece Le Nozze di Figaro on Sunday, May 18th at 1:00 pm. A profoundly humane comedy, Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) is a remarkable marriage of Mozart鈥檚 music at the height of his genius and one of the best librettos ever set. In adapting a play that caused a scandal with its take on 18th-century society, librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte focused on the timeless issues embedded in the frothy drawing-room comedy. Conductor Joana Mallwitz makes her Met debut leading an extraordinary cast in Mozart鈥檚 comic masterpiece. Bass-baritone Michael Sumuel stars as the clever valet Figaro. Soprano Olga Kulchynska costars as the wily maid Susanna, Figaro鈥檚 betrothed. Baritone Joshua Hopkins takes the role of the philandering Count, with soprano Federica Lombardi as his anguished wife the Countess. Mezzo-soprano Sun-Ly Pierce takes on the role of the adolescent page Cherubino.
Tickets for the Met operas this season will be $15.00 each, and are available starting at 12:30 pm at The Beacon Theatre box office the day of the performance. Look for LDAC ads coming soon in the Lakes District 亚洲天堂. For more information on Le Nozze di Figaro, click on this link:
