Sunday afternoon, June 29th: The Met Live in HD presents â€˜Il Barbiere di Siviglia’ at The Beacon Theatre

The sixth and final Met Opera: Live in HD broadcast of the 24/25 season, co-presented by the Lakes District Arts Council and The Beacon Theatre, is Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) on Sunday, June 29th at 1:00 pm.

Rossini’s perfectly honed treasure Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) survived a famously disastrous opening night to become what may be the world’s most popular comic opera. Its buoyant good humor and elegant melodies have delighted audiences for two centuries. Rossini’s effervescent comedy takes the stage in Bartlett Sher’s madcap production. Mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina headlines a winning ensemble as the feisty heroine, Rosina. Jack Swanson costars as her secret beloved, Count Almaviva. Baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky stars as Figaro, the barber of Seville. Bass-baritone Peter Kálmán appears as Dr. Bartolo and bass Alexander Vinogradov is Don Basilio. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts this live cinema transmission, part of the Met’s Live in HD series bringing opera to movie theaters across the globe.

Tickets for the Met operas this season will be $15.00 each, and are available starting at 12:30 pm at The Beacon Theatre box office the day of the performance. Look for LDAC ads coming soon in the Lakes District ÑÇÖÞÌìÌÃ.
