A severe strain of influenza and ongoing COVID-19 infections have prompted the Lake Babine Nation Health Department to issue an advisory notice aimed particularly at people with compromised immune systems.
The health department emphasized the importance of maintaining simple but effective hygiene practices in a press release issued April 12. Community members are encouraged to wash their hands regularly, stay home when feeling unwell, cover coughs and sneezes, wear masks when appropriate, and stay current on vaccinations.
鈥淟et鈥檚 continue to protect our families and communities by practicing these healthy habits,鈥 the press release said.
The province鈥檚 COVID-19 Spring Vaccination Program runs from April 8 to June 30, 2025, focusing on individuals most at risk of severe illness or complications from the virus. Those recommended to receive a spring dose include adults aged 65 and older, Indigenous adults aged 55 and older, adult residents of long-term care homes and assisted living facilities (including those awaiting placement), and individuals six months and older who are classified as clinically extremely vulnerable.
