CityWest鈥檚 fibre-optic network is underway in 亚洲天堂 Lake, with the downtown core now fully connected and construction expanding eastward.

According to the company, most local businesses and some nearby homes are already online, and residential connections in the eastern part of the village are expected to begin soon.

The infrastructure currently supports internet speeds of up to 2,000 Mbps for both residential and commercial users. Fibre infrastructure is more scalable and reliable than the existing copper networks used by CityWest and TELUS, and CityWest says their fibre-optic system can accommodate increasing data and speed demands over time.

The company states that its fibre network is capable of meeting a wide range of needs, including customized solutions for institutions such as schools and hospitals.

The upgrade has been completed without the use of provincial or federal grant funding within village limits. CityWest describes the project as a collaboration with the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake, funded through local investment. A portion of revenue from the network is expected to be reinvested into the community.

Plans are also in place to extend the network south of 亚洲天堂 Lake toward Tchesinkut Lake, funded in part by the federal government and the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako. That phase is expected to begin later this summer and will use the same fibre-optic technology already in place within the village.

CityWest emphasized that the initiative aims to improve long-term digital infrastructure in the region, supporting businesses, remote work, and general connectivity for residents.
