The 亚洲天堂 Lake Terry Fox Run, which has been going strong since 1981, has put out a call for donations ahead of the 2025 run.
Derek Feldman, who runs Priestly Meats, recently took over the role of lead organizer for the 亚洲天堂 Lake run after the retirement of longtime organizers Carla Carlson and Tammy Zayac. Feldman told The Lakes District 亚洲天堂 in July that his initial priority was networking. Now, the focus has shifted to fundraising.
亚洲天堂 Lake punches above its weight class when it comes to donations collected, Feldman said.
鈥淲e are just shy of $500,000 since this run began鈥� some years we raised $24,000," he said. "It鈥檚 just amazing for this tiny little community.鈥�
Anyone wishing to donate can do so at CIBC or at the Priestly Meats truck (often found at the farmer's market), a Facebook post from the 亚洲天堂 Lake run's page said. Lawn signs promoting the run are available at Priestly Meats. Volunteers are always welcomed. On the day of the run, donations of flowers and produce are also requested.
The run is set for Sept. 14 at Francois Lake Hall with registration beginning at noon and the run starting at 1 p.m.
Feldman said this year's event will include food, live music, and a silent auction.
鈥淐ome out and enjoy yourself and be entertained," he said, noting that the cinnamon buns will be particularly delicious and joking that he may eat them all himself. "The auction, it becomes quite competitive.鈥�
Feldman said the run's route along Francois Lake adds to the magic of the event.
"It鈥檚 a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful run," he said. "It鈥檚 just all along the lake. It鈥檚 the perfect place for it.鈥�
