Mike Robertson took this guy鈥檚 photo on his way home from work. The Great Grey Owl is Canada鈥檚 largest owl ranging from 60鈥�82 cm (24鈥濃��33鈥�) in length with a wingspan to 1.3 m (52鈥�) and weight of 1,080 gr (2.4 lbs), they look much heavier than they are.
They hunt for small mammals at night, or at dusk and dawn and can be active during the day. They do not migrate, but will irrupt into hunting areas with high rodent population cycles and can be found from Yukon, Northwest Territories and British Columbia to Ontario.
