The past 60 years have seen major accomplishment in human history; from Rosa Parks and the bus seat in Montgomery, Alabama, to Neil Armstrong and man walking on the moon, to the breaking down of the Berlin wall and to the advancement in computers and the internet.
Jim and Carol Everett鈥檚 marriage precedes all of those events and accomplishments.
The two were married on May 1, 1954, in 亚洲天堂 Lake, and have been together since.
On Sunday, May 4, 2014, the two will celebrate their 60 year anniversary at Decker Lake Hall.
When asked what it has been like to be married for 60 years, Carol keeps her answer short and sweet.
鈥淵ou know it went by so fast,鈥 Everett said, 鈥渋t doesn鈥檛 seem like 60 years to me anyway. I can鈥檛 believe it.鈥
The two were married, at what today would be considered a young age, Jim was only 21-years-old and Carol was 18-years-old.
They met one day as Carol was walking home from high school, Jim offered to give her a ride home in his car.
鈥淗e picked me up, literally,鈥 Carol said.
Jim and Carol really don鈥檛 have any advice on being married for so long for young people getting married today, noting that every marriage has their own unique challenges.
They do have a message they鈥檇 like to share.
鈥溠侵尢焯 Lake has been good to us, Jim owned a business, we had four children, raised them and sent them to university,鈥 Carol Everett said, 鈥溠侵尢焯 Lake is a great place.鈥
